Why segmentation changes sensory feedback
On a one-piece sole, pressure under the big toe carries through the whole sole. On a segmented sole, each zone stays independent: the brain gets localized information instead of an averaged signal. This is my fifth pair of five-finger shoes. They're really comfortable. I've already worn them on mountain hikes and I have to say they performed really well.
