12 mm of sole: a deliberate choice
Let's be clear on this point, because it determines whether this model is for you. With 2 mm of EVA, a 6 mm midsole, and 4 mm of rubber, the Roadaround 2 totals 12 mm underfoot. It's not strict barefoot like the catalog's other models, which sit between 3 and 5.7 mm. It's a cushioned five-toe model, designed for the road and urban use, where you're taking on asphalt all day. You keep toe freedom and natural weight distribution; you lose some ground feel. The reflective panels add visibility for late-day outings.

The women's version of the Roadaround 2 uses the same construction in 9 sizes, 35 to 43. If instead you want real ground contact for running, the V-Run drops down to a thin sole and a perforated upper.

This is my fifth pair of five-finger shoes. They're really comfortable. I've already worn them on mountain hikes and I have to say they performed really well.
Bought to replace my old orange Bikila EVOs. Very satisfied, the fit matches my usual size and the support is great. Nice color too, I just wish there were a few more choices.
